About Sandy

Retirees, yes even senior citizens based on some standards, and yet I am still excited about using computers and the internet. It appears to be a challenge that I must master. I listen to my friends talk about texting, being on Facebook, Twitter, etc. but they have no interest in staying current and communicating with their children in this way. By the way, most of them do send emails and have a cell phone so they are not totally dark ages. They are very critical of the younger generation in this way like it is just ruining the world. Instead I say join them but also embrace other means of being connected. I must say I enjoy getting text messages from my lovely daughter in addition to our daily phone calls. To me it is just another way to stay in touch. We enjoy spending as much time as possible with her. I retired from teaching after 33 wonderful years in the elementary classroom and spending most of my time in second grade --- my all-time favorite. With Dave teaching science in the middle school and high school, as well as being athletic director for 3 years, we spent many after school hours at school as well, usually at sporting events. Our retirement has allowed us to become more active and involved in our church activities. Online writing has encapsulated my interest as I share my thoughts here on "Meditations of My Heart."

Peach Souffle

This is another beautiful day lily. It has a touch of a very soft peachy color. I believe it is considered a double which makes it more interesting. The ruffles on the petals also add to its charm.

Although my favorite day lilies are usually bold colors such as the oranges, reds, and yellows, this one is a very beautiful delicate day lily.

Woman’s Work

Small and dainty with a deep red color make Woman’s Work a beautiful day lily. This one is particularly special because it was a Mother’s Day gift from my daughter several years ago. Each year I anxiously await its arrival shortly after Mother’s Day. What a perfect name for a gift for Mother’s Day — Woman’s Work.

Mr. Lucky

Mr. Lucky is one of my favorite day lilies although it is not one of the largest. The tri-color creates a perfect example of God’s workmanship of beauty. Shades of red, orange, and yellow are my favorites.

Each evening I anticipate the day lilies that will bloom the following day. Mr. Lucky did not disappoint me and was the third day lily to bloom this season.

Charles Johnson

Charles Johnson is always one of the first to arrive and it was right on time. CJ appeared about two days after Cosmic Hummingbird.

First thing in the morning CJ is a beautiful deep red day lily with a yellow throat as shown here. It is a beautiful day lily until the sun beats down on it. But the sun and the heat do take a toll on it by late afternoon. Right now it looks heat drenched.

First Arrival… Cosmic Hummingbird

I always look forward to the arrival of the first day lilies of the season. The beauty of the day lilies remind me of God’s amazing creativity.

It seems like this year their arrival was a little earlier than normal. The very first to arrive was Cosmic Hummingbird.

Although this day lily may not win first prize, it is always consistently the first to bloom. It is a smaller day lily that could make a nice border. The dark red deep throat and curled petals definitely adds to its beauty.

The Story

The Story

The Story by Randy Fraze and Max Lucado is the compilation of the major events in the Bible in chronological order. The Bible is God’s Word. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

For “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:24-25

God’s story is all about Jesus. It is God’s desire to redeem mankind despite our failures. The Bible can be summarized in just a few words. In the Old Testament leads us to Jesus’ first coming. The 4 Gospels emphasize that Jesus is here. The remainder of the New Testament encourages us that Jesus is coming again.

All else is meaningless without a relationship with God. No person can meet all of our needs except God. God’s story is still being written and you can be a part of His story. Pray for a relationship with God not just a name or a picture.

A New Beginning

It was probably two years ago that I started my first blog. I gradually added another, and another, and yet another. I enjoyed blogging but I was so tied to blog posts that my passion for blogging began to fade. Gradually each of my blogs, one by one, subsided.

After about six to eight months of literally no blogging, I have once again developed the desire to share my thoughts and passions on a blog. I may share a recipe, a Bible verse, a meaningful quote, or no telling what else. But I did learn a lesson and I do not plan to try to update more than one blog.
