Written in honor of my daughter, Shauna, when she made the commitment to persevere through the struggles to pursue teaching as her career over a year ago.
God has a plan for each of us.
He’s got a plan for you.
He prepares you as your growing up
for the work he has for you to do.
Did you not notice when you were growing up
he had you teaching then?
From when you were very young
you taught gymnastics to your friends.
Also did you not notice in your early years
that you would always pretend
to use your dad’s old Biology book
and pretend to teach again?
You taught your friends to tumble,
round the house they would roll,
to turn cartwheels and back handsprings,
to swim, ride bikes, if you taught it, it was so.
You experienced several career choices
and in each and every one,
you caught on fast and did your best
teaching others one by one.
You were an amazing teacher
even at an early age you see.
That’s the way God prepares us
for all he has planned for you to be.
He taught you to be patient,
as you waited on his perfect time.
He taught you understanding
to listen, to be firm, and kind.
Sometime it may take longer
for us to realize our fate
but God is patient and understanding
and he’s always preparing you as he waits.
He waited and he answered
as you sought to change your path
And I know that he is smiling now
rather than showing any wrath.
God ‘s plan may have obstacles
as you very plainly have seen.
But you persevered through each of them
Determined to proceed.
God has been there with you
as you conquered every one
You were put in touch with contacts
who could help you and be done.
You have become an amazing model teacher.
It wasn’t a short time you see.
You started many years ago
and now God’s plan we’ll see.
Right now again your waiting
on God’s most perfect time.
I know he has the perfect position
he’s just waiting for the perfect time.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”
